This body of work depicts the folklore, myth, and curiosities about life in the Appalachia. I wanted to capture a rapidly declining culture and reinvigorate a lost sense of the area. My intent is to allow enough information or uncertainty to encourage imaginative narrative about the harsh realities of life in these Mountains.
I wanted to visually document these stories before they disappear or rearranged to suit the needs of the future. This series is informed by things past, documented stories, personal travels, and my own ancestral ties to the Appalachia. I hope viewers will appreciate the complicated and beautifully harsh way of life in one of the greatest pilgrimages in early America that is often overlooked.
